Carolina Barbeque (part two)!

Here are a few pics of some barbeque I was able to get my greedy little fingers on over the weekend. Three of the pictures are from a Boston Butt that my brother and sister-in-law bought at a fundraiser, along with some of my homemade macaroni-n-cheese, which I’m sure will be detailed in a forthcoming post. You’ll notice the slaw and sauce were packed separately in styrofoam cups, of course.

The term ‘Boston Butt’ refers to the upper shoulder portion of the pig (as opposed to lower down closer to the arm). I’m not sure what it has to do with Boston, or anyone’s butt, but I’ve only ever had it smoked and barbequed . . . .and I’ve always seen and heard of it being sold from fundraisers. Never seen it on a menu (that I can recall).

The 4th picture was taken while visiting some old friends at their farm. It was actually leftover barbeque from a wedding the previous day. Hush puppies were included to take the awesome-factor that much higher. Boy, that was some good-ass eatin’!
